About
Lucinda Wharton is an English artist living in London. She is renowned for creating paintings on a large-scale using 24 carat gold having developed a unique studio practice.
Wharton completed her Foundation course in the Georgian City of Bath. She then graduated from the City & Guilds of London Art School, where she was initially discovered by two leading London Galleries; the Cadogan Contemporary in Chelsea and Crane Kalman in Knightsbridge. Her graduation show was a complete sell out; Crane Kalman bought two of her graduate paintings, one of which was to be later used as a stand-in for a client’s L.S. Lowry. Wharton was the youngest ever artist to have a Solo Exhibition at Cadogan Contemporary’s Chelsea gallery. Since then she has continued to exhibit and sell her work both in the UK and Internationally, with a particularly large client base in the United States of America.
Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections throughout Europe, USA, UAE and South East Asia. Wharton has undertaken many private commissions, ranging from a Regency Villa in London’s Regents Park to Manhattan Townhouses.
Along side her career as an artist, Wharton has built a London based prime property portfolio, which continues to evolve. She fulfilled her passion for Georgian architecture by purchasing a Grade 1 listed Georgian Mansion commanding breath-taking rural views. Much of the property is now dedicated to her work, with three huge studios, which she has the luxury of alternating between dependent on light and stage of the process. She divides her time between living in London and working in her unique studio setting in the country.
Wharton has over 15 years experience creating bespoke commissions and selling to Private Clients, Art Dealers, Interior Designers, Architects and Corporations in the UK and internationally. She is able to harness her knowledge of property development and interior design to work with her clients and their advisors to create spectacular one off pieces and often travels globally to meet client’s requirements. She has recently completed commissions in some of London’s newest and most luxurious developments.
